Description
Melanotan II is a synthetic analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) that acts as a non-selective melanocortin receptor agonist. It was originally developed for skin cancer prevention research by inducing melanogenesis (tanning). It also shows activity at MC3R and MC4R receptors involved in appetite and sexual function pathways.

Research Summary
Research demonstrates MT-II activates MC1R (melanogenesis), MC3R (energy homeostasis), MC4R (appetite/sexual function), and MC5R (exocrine function). Studies show dose-dependent increases in eumelanin production in skin cell models.
